On May 23, 2026, S.A.S.S.I.E. Mentoring Inc. was proud to partner with The Solid Foundation Inc. for its Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Awareness & Prevention Walk.

Before participants hit the trail, our team engaged the community by hosting an interactive TBI Trivia Challenge, creating a fun and meaningful opportunity to increase awareness, share important facts, and encourage conversations about brain injury prevention.

We are grateful to stand alongside organizations committed to educating, empowering, and supporting our communities. Together, we are helping to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind others that knowledge can make a life-changing difference.

Thank you to everyone who walked, learned, and advocated with us. Together, we are stronger.

In collaboration with the DC Black MBA Association, SASSIE Mentoring Inc. salutes our mentee Aniya Stevenson! Aniya placed as one of the top 3 contestants in an Oratorical Contest on Saturday, March 25th, held at the University of the District of Columbia. Aniya’s speech was a tribute to Jane Bolin – the first African American female Judge in the United States. Awesome Job Aniya! We are proud of you!

Peniel is 1 of 10 students in Washington, DC to receive the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship (a 4-year scholarship to George Washington University). Peniel has been our mentee since middle school. She is bright, inquisitive, and enjoys challenging herself to reach new heights. We are so honored to see this “change agent” on the rise. Peniel is a rising senior at Paul International High School, who holds over a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She has been part of the S.A.S.S.I.E. Mentoring Program since middle school. She has continuously demonstrated  the characteristics of a S.A.S.S.I.E. scholar by being involved in her community, being a diligent student, and striving to do her best to achieve her goals. She is grateful and very thrilled to be chosen as a SY22-23 SASSIE Mentoring Program Intern. She looks forward to the opportunities and learning experiences she’ll gain as she interns and truly believes that the best is yet to come!

Meet Our New Intern for SY22-23, Rae Tyson

Rae is currently a 10th-grade student within the District Of Columbia Public Charter School System who holds a 4.5 GPA. She is an excellent student, writer, and singer. She is super excited to be an Intern on the SASSIE team for the 22-23 academic calendar (beginning this summer), and she can’t wait for the opportunities it will bring.
